  • 14th Annual "Wheels and Keels" Car and Boat Show at the Moorings Yacht & Country Club

Space Coast Region PCA was well represented at the 14th Annual "Wheels & Keels" Car & Boat Show at the Moorings Yacht & Country Club in Vero Beach on Saturday, April 13, 2024 with a tent and display table staffed by SPC Region officers and volunteers where brochures, water, and other hand-outs were available for anyone interested in learning more about Porsches and Porsche Club activities.  Sixteen SPC Region members entered their Porsches in the judged categories which consisted of fourteen classes ranging from original Antique vehicles through modern American and Foreign Sports Cars, as well as, Modified cars, Hot Rods, Exotics, Prototypes, and Race cars.  The Porsche winner of the day, with a "Best-in-Class Award," was Diane & John Buckley with their 1997 Raspberry Red Metallic 993, that they affectionately refer to as just "Raspberry."  It's a unique car with a very interesting history and it recently brought home a "Second-in-Class Award" at Werks Reunion at Amelia Island.  The Porsche cars drew a lot of attention from spectators and other show participants, with many stories told by former Porsche owners about some of their adventures with Porsches over the years. The field of cars on display was large and varied with something for anyone who had a interest in automobiles and automobile history.  It was refreshing to see so many families and children who were excited to see all the great cars firsthand while enjoying the beautiful weather at the Moorings Club House and Golf Course.  All proceeds from the event, which is organized annually by the Wheels & Keels Charitable Foundation, go directly to supporting local charities. • "Under-the-Oaks" car show at Riverside Park

The Indian River Region AACA held its 45th annual "Under-the-Oaks" Car Show at Riverside Park on Saturday, March 16, 2024.  Over three hundred cars were on display in various classes including antique automobiles, classic 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's  American cars, vintage British, German, and Italian sports cars, and a significant number of modified Muscle Cars, Hot Rods, and Roadsters.  This was not a PCA Space Coast Region event, however six Space Coast members had their Porsches on display, which included two beautiful 356's, an early 911S race car fresh from racing at Sebring last weekend, a 997 "Black Edition" Cabriolet, a classic 911SC, and a very unique and highly modified 718 Spyder.  Four beautifully restored VW Beetle's in the same section served to complete Porsche's heritage within the display.  There was a large crowd of attendees checking out all of the cars and enjoying the food offerings that were available.  Whatever automobile interest anyone had was surely satisfied by the number and variety of cars spread out across the park.  There was even a working Allison Aircraft engine on display!  To see photos of everything, please head over to the website! • Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch

Eight intrepid members of the Space Coast Region were not dissuaded by the dreary rainy weather on Sunday morning, March 10, 2024 and brought their cars out for the Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch to enjoy Porsche camaraderie with their SPC friends.  Spirits were not "dampened" as discussions turned to odometer gears, IMS bearing and rear main seal replacements, and recent car buying experiences.  Upcoming events, which are listed on the SPC Region website, were also discussed.  Even though it was a modest sized group, everyone had a good time.  A few of our regular attendees were participating in the concurrent SPC River Ranch Rodeo Hoedown event or racing in the Sebring HSR Spring Fling event.  You can see the link for the Kaffeeklatsch photos up on the site! • First Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch of the year!

Despite some early chilly weather there was a very large turnout of people and cars for the Vero Beach Kaffeeklatsch on Sunday, January 14, 2024.  We were fortunate to be joined by a great group of Ferrari Club members, who in concert with our SPC Porsche Club members served to make this Kaffeeklatsch one of the largest ever held for a Vero Beach event.  There were plenty of great cars from both Marques available to check out, from the rare limited production red 1960 Porsche 356B T5 Roadster to the race-ready silver Porsche GT3RS and GT4, along with several other classic and new Porsche models on display, including an Ice Blue Porsche Taycan.  And, in the Ferrari group, as you would expect, everything was exotic with great examples of Ferrari's finest cars on display.  Some of the Ferrari owners are also Porsche owners, which added to the easy and natural association between the groups.  It was a real treat for SPC Porsche owners to have Ferrari friends join in the fun.  Steve Tarr - SPC Region President, Robert Kantor - SPC Region South Coordinator, and Jay McGrath - SPC Social Chair, were all on hand to share information and answer questions about upcoming events which are listed on the SPC Region website.  You can head over to the link on our site to check out all the photos!! • HSR Classic Sebring 12 Hour Tribute & "Pistons & Props"

The 2023 season finale of the HSR Racing series was held on Saturday, December 02, 2023 with the eighth running of the HSR Classic 12 Hour Tribute Race & "Pistons & Props" featuring Run Groups for vintage race cars from the fifties through the nineties and classes for various modern Prototypes and other race cars. It was a round-robin affair with each of the Run Groups taking the track for four sessions in rotation over a 12 Hour period split between Saturday and Sunday with winners announced at race end on Sunday. The Zotz Racing Team was there supporting our very own Scott Kee who was competing in his #351 Cayman GT4 Club Sport, with encouragement from his wife Sue, our "Escape Velocity" Editor, who kept everything running smoothly throughout the race schedule. Chip Reichhart was also there running with the 901 Shop driving his '67 911S race car in the Vintage Race and Enduro. Both drivers finished well in class. The arrival of the "Fly-in" vintage aircraft positioned along the Race Grid made the tribute to Sebring's rich aviation and racing history even more special for the race teams and spectators. There were Porsches aplenty along with almost every other race car one can imagine for such an event. German, British, Italian, American, and Japanese cars were well represented in the Paddock, on the Grid, and competing against one another on the track. There were so many great cars that it was difficult to select any one favorite which made trips through the Paddock and to the Grid all the more interesting. A large contingent of Backdraft Cobra replicas arrived en masse continuing their recent tradition of attending the event and the owners enjoyed a special lunch served in the Sebring "Gallery of Legends."
