"Wheels and Keels" 12th Annual Charity Car & Boat Show

The 12th Annual "Wheels & Keels" Foundation Charity Car & Boat Show was held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Moorings Yacht & Country Club in Vero Beach, FL. Ten Space Coast members and Porsche owners put their Porsches on display in the judged event which was marked by strong competition throughout the sports car classes. A sign at the entrance welcomed the Space Coast Region's participation in the event. The Porsche contingent consisted of John Osteen's red 1958 356 Speedster, Charles Weary's green 1965 356 Coupe, John Osteen's blue 356 SC Cabriolet, Julin Bruna's black 2012 Boxster, Patrick Annunziata's black 2015 GT3, Chip Reichhart's multiple race winning red 1967 911S race car, John Osteen's black 2005 Carrera GT, David Kelly's India Red 1988 928 S4, Michael Rizzo's white 2021 911 Turbo S, a yellow 914, and a blue Porsche GT4. John Osteen also entered his 2005 red Ford GT in the competition. Vero Beach Autosports also had a Porsche Boxster at their marketing display near the entrance. When the judging concluded, the red Ford GT and the 928 S4 were winners in their respective classes. All the Porsches received lots of attention from the spectators and from the other entrants as well. The 356's especially seemed to catch everyone's eyes as they came by viewing all the cars in the sports car classes. It was another great event with a big mix of cars from every era. If you were a car aficionado, it was a great place to be on a warm sunny day. Plus, there was lots to see in the marina too, including a couple of "go fast" boats with big motors and a classic wooden Hacker-Craft! There were three great local food trucks on hand offering a variety of choices for lunch. The event is organized somewhat like you would see at Pebble Beach in that the class winning cars are lined up and driven one-by-one to the presentation area where the awards are presented by the Wheels & Keels Foundation Chairman to each award winner in front of the spectator gallery. Over the years this event has raised significant sums for local charities, especially those focused on youth activities within the community. The scale of this year's participation should serve to continue that tradition. You can see photos of the event at on Space Coast website!
